Love Letter to My Body
Dear Beautiful Body,
Even saying beautiful body makes me cringe because as you well know I have had issues with you since my time on earth began.
I used to compare you to everyone else and pull you down because you didn’t measure you.
I am sorry because as a child growing up I used to belittle you and say things like “why do you have to be this small”, “you are not fast enough”, “your not smart enough”.
Even as an adult I condemned you and point out all the things I don’t like about myself such as I have a big tummy, my arms are too big, I have a fat bum and cellulite.
My reason for writing to you is not to remind you of these things as its not my intention to hurt you any more. My motive is to apologise and highlight how grateful I am and point out these details to you.
So here goes, My Body you are amazing. Since I entered this world you have kept me breathing. You have ensured that blood pumps around my body and all my internal organs function. You have protected me from sickness and illness and when I have become ill, within days you have brought me back to full health.
Your capacity to recall everything that I have ever experienced is second too non. I am so grateful for my senses. Smell, touch, taste, sight and sound. I never take for granted the fact that I can smell the coffee brewing on a morning, or the Reed defuser at the side of my bed. I love that when I take a walk in the country I can smell nature and the fresh sea air. Due to my sense of smell I can taste the foods I eat and once again am thankful for my taste buds and the fact that you distinguish which are sweet, saviour and sour. You know better than mw what I like and loath and you never forget that so protect me from offending my taste bugs again.
You are amazing at digesting the foods I eat and helps all the goodness go to where it needs to go to ensure that my body functions to it highest potential. If I eat something that my body disproves off you have the capacity of getting it out of my system as quickly as possible.
I am so thankful for the way you move. I can walk, run, jog, squat, lunge do push ups and so much more and you motivate me to push myself further each time. When I am consistent with movement you reward me with toned muscles, weight loss and energy.
One thing that truly blows my mind is how you allowed by body to carry three children. But before I was even birthed you nurtured me inside of my mothers womb.
You helped me conceive, grow and nurture three lives from within and once birthed you provided the milk to sustain them until they were old enough to be weaned.
You never cease to amaze me and I know that I am only scratching the surface of all that you do every day or are even capable of.
Thank you for holding and moulding me all these years. Forgive me for all that I have said to you about you and how I may have made you feel.
I am choosing to forgive myself and to always look for the positives that you provide in my Life.
Thank you Beautiful body.
