7 Signs You Need Support During Menopause
Nov 17, 2024
Are you feeling lost during menopause? I understand how you feel. Many women, including myself, go through changes that can be overwhelming. Recognising when you need support is the first step to feeling better.
In this post, I’ll share seven signs that show you might need help during this time. From mood swings to sleep issues, these signs can really affect your daily life. But remember, seeking support is a sign of strength. Let’s dive in and see how you can take control of your menopause journey.
Sign 1: Feeling Overwhelmed
Do you often feel like everything is too much to handle? Many women experience this during menopause. The changes in your body and hormones can leave you feeling overwhelmed.
I remember feeling this way myself. It was hard to keep up with work, family, and my own needs. It’s important to recognise this feeling and know that you don’t have to go through it alone.
If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, it might be time to reach out for support. Whether it’s talking to a friend, joining a group, or connecting with a coach like me, getting help can make a big difference.
Sign 2: Persistent Fatigue
Are you constantly tired, no matter how much rest you get? Fatigue is a common struggle during menopause. Many women find that they feel drained, even after a full night's sleep.
I experienced this fatigue myself. It was frustrating to feel so tired while trying to keep up with my daily life. This tiredness can affect your work, relationships, and overall happiness.
If you’re feeling persistently fatigued, it’s a sign that you might need support. Simple changes, like joining a fitness class or talking to someone who understands, can help you regain your energy and feel more like yourself again.
Sign 3: Mood Swings
Do you find yourself experiencing sudden mood swings? One moment you might feel happy, and the next, you could be feeling irritable or sad. This is a common sign during menopause due to hormonal changes.
I went through this myself, and it was tough. I felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster, and it affected my relationships and work. It’s important to know that these mood swings are normal, but you don’t have to face them alone.
If you’re struggling with your emotions, seeking support can help. Talking to someone who understands, like a life coach or a supportive friend, can provide you with the tools to manage these feelings and find balance again.
Sign 4: Sleep Issues
Are you having trouble sleeping at night? Many women experience sleep issues during menopause, whether it’s trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up too early.
I faced this challenge too. The sleepless nights left me feeling exhausted and foggy during the day. Sleep is so important for our overall well-being, and not getting enough can make everything feel harder.
If you’re struggling with sleep, it’s a sign that you might need support. There are many ways to improve your sleep, from relaxation techniques to joining a supportive community. Remember, you don’t have to go through this alone.
Sign 5: Weight Changes
Have you noticed changes in your weight that you can’t explain? Many women experience weight gain or loss during menopause, and it can be frustrating and confusing.
I know this struggle all too well. Despite being a personal trainer, I found myself gaining weight during my own menopause journey. It felt discouraging, and I often wondered what was happening to my body.
If you’re facing weight changes, it’s important to seek support. Understanding how menopause affects your body can help you make informed choices. Joining a fitness class designed for women going through menopause can also provide the guidance and encouragement you need to feel more in control.
Sign 6: Memory Problems
Do you find yourself forgetting things more often? Many women experience memory problems, often referred to as "brain fog," during menopause. This can include forgetfulness, trouble concentrating, or feeling mentally scattered.
I experienced this myself, and it was frustrating. I felt like I was losing my sharpness, which affected my confidence and daily tasks. It’s important to know that these memory issues are common and can be linked to hormonal changes.
If you’re struggling with memory problems, seeking support can help. Talking to someone who understands can provide you with strategies to cope and regain your focus. Remember, you’re not alone in this journey.
Sign 7: Physical Symptoms
Are you dealing with physical symptoms like hot flushes, joint pain, or headaches? These symptoms are common during menopause and can be quite uncomfortable.
I remember experiencing hot flushes that would catch me off guard, making me feel anxious and frustrated. It’s important to recognise that these physical changes are part of the menopause journey, but you don’t have to face them alone.
If you’re struggling with physical symptoms, seeking support can make a big difference. Whether it’s finding the right exercises, joining a supportive community, or getting expert advice, there are ways to manage these symptoms and improve your quality of life.
You’re Not Alone
